How to Launch a Sermon Series Without the Scramble
A series launch fails when the title is still changing on Saturday. It works when the pastor locks one title, you make one graphic, and every channel says the same sentence.
Lock three things first
- The title. Short enough for a slide. If it needs a subtitle, the title is too clever.
- The first Sunday. Put the date on the graphic. "Starts this Sunday" goes stale.
- The one-sentence hook. What the series is about, in words a guest understands. No inside jokes.
Ask for those three at least three weeks out. If the title is still a maybe, promote "New series this Sunday" and add the title when it is real. Do not invent a title to fill a template.
Where the words go
Use the same block everywhere:
- Slide: title, date, service time
- Bulletin: title, hook, and "Bring a friend"
- Social: the hook plus the time and address
- Email: subject line is the title, not "Newsletter"
"Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day." (Psalm 96:2, KJV)
A four-week rhythm
| When | What you publish |
|---|---|
| 3 weeks out | Save-the-date slide in the pre-service loop |
| 2 weeks out | Bulletin box and one social post |
| 1 week out | Email with the hook and the time |
| Launch Sunday | Story from the room, with permission, not a plot summary of the sermon |
Ready-to-copy lines
The Post Library has a series-launch caption, and P035 is the short version with a blank for your title.
