Baptism Sunday and Baby Dedication: What to Publish

Baptism and baby dedication are not the same moment. Say which one you mean. Guests should not have to guess.

Baptism here means a believer's baptism: someone is saying yes to Jesus in front of the church. Baby dedication means parents are asking the church to pray for them and their child. Use your church's own practice. These lines leave room for that.

Before you design anything

Collect, in writing:

  • The date and service time
  • How someone signs up, and the deadline
  • Whether photos are allowed, and who approves them
  • The pastor's name for questions

Do not publish a candidate's story, last name, or photo unless they (or the parents) said yes.

Baptism Sunday

Put the sign-up in the bulletin for three weeks, not one. The slide only needs the date and "Talk with us if you want to be baptized."

"Ready to take the next step? Our next baptism Sunday is [date]." That line is already in the Post Library. There is another at P034.

Baby dedication

Say who it is for, how to sign up, and that you will pray with the family. Skip cute nicknames unless the parents wrote them.

"But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." (Mark 10:14, KJV)

The full caption is P121. Many churches plan dedications on Mother's Day. Use your real Sunday. The calendar lists May 9, 2027 as a suggested date only.

The week of the service

  • Slide: the name of the moment and the time. No paragraph.
  • Bulletin: one short welcome for guests who came for a family.
  • After: a thank-you to volunteers. No photos of children online without a clear yes.
